Our Self Portraits
We had great fun creating our self-portraits in 3rd Class! We followed a step-by-step guide to draw our faces, outlined our drawings in Sharpie and then added colour using paint. We were delighted with how they turned out and were so impressed with the finished pieces!
We were delighted to welcome coaches from Monivea Rugby Club to our school for tag rugby sessions. A big thank you to Jack and the other coaches for helping us develop our skills over the past few weeks. We also had the opportunity to take part in a tag rugby tournament at Monivea pitch. The children played brilliantly, worked really well together and showed great teamwork throughout the day. Everyone had a fantastic day out and really enjoyed the experience!
We had a lovely time celebrating Friendship Week with our buddy class, First Class. We worked together to make friendship bracelets, and our 3rd Class pupils were brilliant buddies, showing great kindness and patience while helping the younger children. We also took part in friendship-themed art and drama activities and discussed what it means to be a good friend. We explored the importance of including others and always showing kindness!
As part of our learning about the natural features of Ireland, we learned all about the Cliffs of Moher. Working in pairs and small groups, we created posters featuring drawings and interesting facts about the cliffs. We enjoyed finding out more about this famous landmark and sharing our learning through our posters. There was some great teamwork and creativity on display!
Maths Week
During Maths Week, we had lots of fun exploring Maths through a variety of hands-on activities! We teamed up with our First Class buddies to complete an outdoor Maths Trail, working together to solve problems. The pupils were so kind and helpful with their buddies, and everyone had a great time learning together. We also explored the importance of having a growth mindset, discussing the power of yet and how we can learn from our mistakes. We created colourful growth mindset posters to remind us to keep trying and never give up when Maths gets tricky. We made our own fraction walls, played fun Maths games to practise our tables and develop our understanding of fractions and solved maths riddles.
