World Book Day 2026
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we spent some time reading with our 3rd Class Buddies. It was nice to have the time to talk to each other about our favourite books. We also dressed up for the occasion. We loved showing off our costumes and telling the class about the book which inspired the costume. Our favourite part of the day was the parade where we got to see all the costumes throughout the school.
We really enjoyed Wellbeing Week, especially Wacky Wednesday. Thank you to the Wellbeing Committee who organised and ran everything.
Junk Art Playground
During the month, we focused on the theme of Play. We learned about different games and toys from the past, the role of a Park Ranger and saw the importance of maintaining a safe/clean environment in our playgrounds. We then we put our knowledge to use. We designed and made our playgrounds. We had lots of fun and displayed great collaboration and critical thinking skills. Afterwards, we presented our work to the class and gave each other feedback on the designs.
Length
We recently focused on the topic of Length in Maths. Here are some photos of us measuring using both standard and non-standard units of measurement. Our favourite activity was measuring the yard with the metre stick. It was a very windy day which made it a little tricky!
St. Brigid's Day
We made some beautiful artwork for St. Brigid's Day. We all made a cross from card and our own St. Brigids Cloaks. Look at how creative we are!
Athenry Camogie Team Visit
We were all very excited to welcome the Athenry Senior Camogie team to our school. The All-Ireland Champions brought some of the cups the club won recently for us to see. There were also a lot of past pupils on the panel which made their achievement even more special. We loved getting dressed up in our maroon and white to welcome them. We also decorated our classroom with posters for the occasion.
Science Week 2025
Bricks 4 Kidz
First Class were very lucky to be given the opportunity to take part in a Bricks 4 Kids workshop as part of Science Week. We were each given our own pack to build a plane and we even got to add a motor to make the propeller rotate! We used our critical-thinking skills to complete the challenge and had a lot of fun doing it.
Maths Week 2025
We worked collaboratively to make maths themed board games as part of Maths Week. We enjoyed playing the games afterwards and in doing so, practiced our tables in a fun way!
We went to our 3rd Class Buddies during Maths week. We completed Halloween themed maths challenges in groups so we could get to know our buddies a little better.
