Maths in 2nd Class
This week in 2nd class we have been working on 2D shapes and 3D shapes. Check out our shape pictures we created in pairs.
Science Week
From the 10th-14th we marked Science Week with fun experiments and more. On Monday, we had a visit from Una Woods from Bricks 4 Kids where we constructed our own motored airplanes out of Lego. We also carried out some experiments in class including the bubble experiment and the magic milk experiment. We also used many scientific skills including predicting and inquiring through our morning meetings where we examined zoomed in science photos and photos where there was an odd one out. Monster Doodle Workshop
2nd and 3rd class were so lucky to be awarded with over 100 books based on the 'Free to Be Me' initiative which partnered with Children's Books Ireland and Aviva. The books showcase the richness and diversity of modern Irish society and celebrate positive representation and inclusion. We were lucky to be one of the five schools chosen in Ireland where members of Aviva and Úna Woods, an author and illustrator visited our school. We participated in a Monster Doodle which promoted creativity and engagement with libraries. It was so much fun and now we each have cut out our monster to keep!
Maths Week

Maths week in 2nd class (1).mp4East Galway Celtics Basketball
We were so lucky on Friday morning to have a basketball lesson with coaches from East Galway Celtics. We practiced our chess pass and overarm pass as well as travelling and dribbling. We then played a basketball match at the end. Thank you to the coaches in East Galway Celtics, we really enjoyed it! Check out some pictures below.
Fractions in Maths
This week we were learning all about Fractions. We explored halves and quarters. We used pizzas to demonstrate this and then logges this in our Maths Journals. Each table then got a plate of cookies where we had to apply our knowledge on fractions and divide them evenly with our table.
Bake Sale 2025
Thank you to 6th class for a wonderful Bake Sale to mark the end of Friendship Week. We had some very happy faces from 2nd class. Well done on your amazing fundraising success!
