4th Class
We made the most of the lovely sunshine this week. 4th Class took maths lessons outside and they learned all about capacity be creating their own capacity measuring tools and putting them to the test.
4th Class used watercolours to create some beautiful cherry blossom branches which are now brightening up our hallway.
4th Class were entertained by some wonderful stories from the storyteller Fiona Dowling. Fiona was able to tell us stories from all over the world and she even showed us some interesting instruments from Africa which accompanied her stories.
4th Class have been learning all about France in SESE. They created amazing presentations with information about the food, art, culture, sport and language in France.
4th Class prepared excellent debates based on teh topic 'School Uniforms should be banned'. Our teams went head to head and made some excellent arguments for and against the topic.
Today is World Book Day and to celebrate, 4th Class dressed up as their favourite book characters. We had a parade to show off all of our costumes and we also took part in some shared reading with our buddies from 2nd Class.
We loved taking time this week to think about our Wellbeing and take part in some Wellbeing Activities. We completed meditations, mindful colouring, an Anti-Bullying poster competition and we finished off the week with Wellbeing Stations.
We really enjoyed creating Love Heart Sweets using paint and oil pastels and we even made some lovely penguin cards to celebrate.
4th Class have been learning all about weight in class this week. They have loved experimenting with the balance and weighing scales, estimating the weight of classroom objects and even using precise measurements to create their own playdough.
4th Class went on an educational walk with Martin Curley, learning all about the local castle, esker and monastery ruins beside the school. They found some fossils along the way too.
After witnessing the Northern Lights, 4th Class decided to complete some art work using chalk pastels and write all about the Northern Lights in our Explanation Writing.
We had a brilliant day welcoming the Athenry Camogie team to our school. There was huge excitement as we cheered them on and posed for pictures with all the cups that they have won this year.
The month of November was full of Turtle Talk in Fourth Class. Sibéal came from Galway Atlantiquaria to tell us all about Sea Turtles and tasked us with researching and creating our own projects based on the subject. We had so much fun creating our projects and presenting the information to Sibéal when she returned. We also made our very own clay Sea Turtles.
We have been playing lots of Maths Games to help with 4th Class maths. These have been great fun while learning all about Place Value, Addition and Multiplication.
Science week was great fun. We took part in a Bricks 4 Kids wordshop and we also constructed and tested our own Nasa rockets. We measured how far the rockets flew and checked if it changed depending on the rocket's nose size.

4th Class had a lovely week celebrating Friendship Week. They loved chatting about what makes someone a good friend and they designed some friendship flowers based on these special qualities. 4th Class then paired up with their buddy in 2nd Class and they made friendship bracelets together.
4th Class learned about the French artist Henri Matisse and created some amazing and colourful self portraits based on his work.
