Wellbeing Week

We celebrated our first ever Wellbeing week in school. Some wonderful activities and events took place during the Week. It was an inspiring week dedicated to promoting mental, emotional, and physical wellness among our students and staff.

Tranquil Tuesday:

We kicked off the week with Tranquil Tuesday, where children had the opportunity to engage in mindful coloring activities. This peaceful activity allowed them to focus on the present moment and practice mindfulness in a creative way.

Wellbeing Wednesday:

Wednesday was dedicated to relaxation and inner peace with meditation and yoga sessions. We extend our gratitude to Ms. Kearney for leading yoga sessions with our senior classes, providing them with valuable tools for managing stress and finding balance.

Thankful Thursday:

On Thankful Thursday, our students took the time to express gratitude by creating cards for their peers, teachers, and loved ones. It was heartwarming to see the kindness and appreciation shared throughout the school community.

Funky Friday:

We ended the week on a vibrant note with Funky Friday! Students and staff embraced funky colors and patterns, raising money for Pieta House. We managed to raise €344.80 for this worthy cause. As part of the festivities, we set up Wellbeing Stations where students could enjoy dancing, playing musical statues, participating in playground games, and bonding over board games.

We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the entire school community for their enthusiastic participation and support throughout Wellbeing Week. Special appreciation goes to our student and staff Wellbeing Committees for their dedication in organizing such a successful event.

Cineáltas Flag

We received a Cineáltas flag and poster from the Department of Education as part of Anti-Bullying Week to acknowledge the good work that we are doing in our school and will continue to do to prevent and address bullying and to promote kindness, respect, inclusion, diversity and wellbeing. The word Cineáltas means kindness and the Cineáltas Flag serves as a visible national symbol of the school community’s shared commitment to be kind and to work together to prevent and address bullying.

As part of Anti-Bullying week, our Wellbeing Committee made a presentation to our school during assembly on the theme of Bullying. They revealed our Cineáltas flag and spoke about the importance of being kind and respectful towards each other.

Our Wellbeing Committee along with our Special visitor Santa raised the flag. Santa praised the pupils for all their hard work in promoting kindness and delivered a very special message where he asked them to continue being kind to one another.

Blue Day

The PA in conjunction with the schools wellbeing committee organised a fundraiser as of International Children' Day.

The children wore blue the colour of Unicef and took part in a guess how many sweets are in the jar competition.

The wellbeing committee also explained the theme of international children's day 2023 "Every child every right".

€459.10 was raised for UNICEF's Gaza appeal. We are very proud of our entire school community for getting behind such a worthy cause.

Wellbeing Committee

For the first time in our school we have set up a wellbeing committee this year. This committee is made up of representatives from 1st to 6th class and we meet regularly to organise events for weeks such as friendship week, anti-bullying week and to come up with ideas to promote wellbeing across the whole school.

Some of our first aims include restablishing and refurbishing the buddy bench in our school. This will ensure all children have someone to play with and will encourage everyone to be a buddy and include others in their games.

We also brainstormed ideas for friendship week, organised buddies between classes and plan to hold a wellbeing week later in the school year.
