Everyone in 5th class wrote a letter to a person of their choice. We have been lucky enough to receive some lovely replies, including offers to meet up with their role models.

Lego League

In 5th class this year we are taking part in Superpowered a lego league project. The initative involves learning all about renewable energy sources and designing prototypes using lego pieces. We have completed a number of Lego League sessions and are really enjoying innovating and creating new designs!

Pancake Tuesday

We celebrated the last day before the start of the season of Lent by eating some tasty pancakes. We had lots of sauces and toppings to choose from. Yummy!

Ms Phelan

Rang a chúig we so lucky to be taught by Ms Phelan for the last few weeks. She covered very interesting topics with us such as World War 2 and did some fantastic Art lessons which we thoroughly enjoyed.

St Brigid's Day

We had a fantastic time learning about the life of St Brigid and her importance. We had the opportunity to make four legged St Brigid's crosses and also three legged which we learned are more commonly created in Donegal.

Science Week

Rang cúig had great fun during Science week. We began by using our engineering skills to design and make 1. The strongest tower we could and 2. The tallest tower possible using spaghetti and jelly sweets. We agree that marshmallows are easier for next time!

We had the opportunity to work with bubbles and experimented adding bubbles within bubbles and had a completion to see who could blow the biggest bubble that didn't pop!

We each chose a scientist to research and complete a project on. This is now displayed outside our classroom and we are very proud of our projects.

Along with Rang 6. We had a Science week table quiz on Friday evening. It was great fun and our winners were very proud of themselves.

Finally, rang a 5 all took the leadership and became teaching scientists for the day on Friday. Everyone modeled an experiment either on their own or in a group to share our scientific knowledge and develop our ability to teach others.

Halloween

We had great fun in 5th class with apple bobbing, flour, taste tests, an autopsy and feely boxes. The halloween parade was definitely the highlight.

Happy halloween from all of 5th class 🎃👻💀

Back to School in 5th Class

We have been having a great time in 5th class being back at school. We have been working really hard and created some wonderful displays all about ourselves, hopes and aspirations for the year ahead.

We have also been doing lots of work on accountable talk. Using hand signs to agree or disagree. As part of this we used conversation tracking and created a speaking web based on our conversations.
