Parents' Association

At St. Oliver Plunkett N.S. we have a very supportive and active Parents' Association who work with the school on a number of initiatives including fundraising. It is a forum for parents of children attending our school to share knowledge and ideas which will improve and enrich the learning experiences for our pupils.  All parents are welcome to attend Parent Association meetings.  Both in the past and in more recent times the PA have run a number of fundraisers that have greatly added to the amenities at our school and indeed the learning opportunities for our pupils.

The current executive position of the PA include:

Chairperson: Lindsay Cox

Secretary: Deirdre Ní Cheallaigh and Secondary Secretary Jacinta Flannery

Co-Treasurers: Rosemarie Dunne and Sharon Somers

Parents' Association Role

The Education Act, 1998 sets down the role of the Parents' Association:   The Parents' Association works with the principal, staff and the Board of Management to build effective partnership of home and school.

A Parents' Association shall promote the interests of the students in a school in co-operation with the board, principal, teachers and students.

What does Newcastle NS Parents Association do?

Playing a part in some way – no matter how small – can be very rewarding for parents and children alike! It is a great way to meet other parents, find out what is going on in the school, input your views and suggestions and have an active role in the school community.

If you are interested in finding out more, please contact the school office or email pa@stoliverplunkettns.com
